CHARITY PAIRS DAY :-
2024 Charity Pairs Day - Sponsored by
Charity Pairs Day is California Bowls Clubs annual fun day bowler and non bowlers doing their bit for a good cause in a Pairs event. First run in 1986 and has been a fixture in our calendar ever since with £1000's of pounds donated to our chosen good causes.
This years Charity Pair Day saw a field of 16 split between "bowlers & non bowlers" for a fun day in aid of a good cause, images curtsey of courtesy Paul Wildon of the day have been posted under the "Events Gallery". Thanks to all who bowled, to Gary Harfitt for his sponsorship, to the spectators, to those who provided & sold cakes etc, to the BBQ crew, to those who brought draw prizes & tickets, manned the desk, readied the green, all manor of other things and finally to Ian Page who pulls all the srings together, without you all the excellent sum of £803 raised could not have been possible. The Charity beneficiary from all these efforts was The Blue Cross Suffolk Animal Re Housing Centre.The The winners & runner up pictured below were winners Maria Brooks & Jack with runners up Andy Newland & Jim Brooks, this being Jim's second successive R/U spot.

ANNUAL DINNER & PRIZEGIVING :-
2022 Annual Club Dinner & Prizegiving
The Bowls Club annual dinner returned for it's 61st event with numbers slightly down on previous year, the meal was again provided by Ashley. Following the meal there were a couple of speeches by Keith Crabb (President Suffolk County Bowls Association) and a response by Mervyn Thomas of Chairman of California Bows Club.
Next the evening moved on to the presentation of our club competition prizes including "Player of the Year" and "Member of the Year", Steve Allum took the Player of the Year award after an excellent season and Secretary Stuart Walsh won the Member of the Year award, picture (see below).
This years Cali Bowls Club dinner entertainment was again provided by the excellent Chelsea Francis who as usual proved to be a super choice. The evening included a prize draw, with thanks to all who brought prizes, as usual the evening went very well with plenty of help for the organiser Ian Page and chief helper John Calver.
